Congratulations on taking the initiative to make a change towards bettering your health. It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge that you need to make a change and it takes even more courage to take action.
Below I have my biggest tips, tricks, and words of wisdom to keep in mind as you tackle your fitness goals…
Set a reasonable deadline then add a couple months to that in order to give yourself a buffer.
Don’t start by throwing the whole toolbox at yourself from the beginning. Start with just the screwdriver at first.
Make this sustainable. As you’re going to have to exercise and eat well for the rest of your life in order to maintain your goal once you get there.
Start walking more. Park a little further from the grocery store, or walk around the house while talking on the phone.
Drink more water. Start your day with 20 - 30 ounces of water everyday.
Eat veggies with every meal. Veggies will keep you full and provide you with vital micronutrients your body needs.
Little changes go a long ways when starting out.
Don’t expect perfection from yourself. Its okay to mess up, but make sure to get back on track at the next meal.
Consistency is the secret ingredient.
Incorporate some form of resistance training into your routine.
Sleep is very important. 7 - 9 hours a night if all possible.
Last but definitely not least is to have some confidence in yourself. You can do this!
